LĆŽFTY GARDENS

WE ARE

ARCHITECTS – AGRONOMISTS – GARDENERS

Lefty Gardens represents a team of architects, engineers, agronomists and gardeners, an ensemble that truly blends complementary expertise and features with a goal: to build unique and tailored projects. Whether public or private, we plan and make gardens of any size come true and we riqualify decayed green areas for companies and business activities.

WE CREATE

GARDENS – PARKS – CORPORATE GREEN

We can supply the full package for the creation of the new garden, from land surveys to the management of the contruction site, but our premises never change: we do our best to meet the customer needs in order to get the maximum from the designated area and we always bear in mind the minimum level for the maintenance of the green elements.

“Structure is the most important component in a successful garden.”

Piet Oudolf

THE PROCESS

First Meeting

A project has bigger chances of success when a solid agreement occur between customer and designer. Free and non-binding, first meeting is intended to get to know each other and to realize if we can work to an organic project. The garden will be built together, step by step, in order to reflect customer style, wishes and needs.

Land Survey and Current Status

After agree upon an estimate, we can dedicate ourselves to land surveying, an operation that leads us to the writing of a technical site plan, complete with information and data, which places precisely fixed structures, plants and systems. This document is the Current Status, the essential starting point of any project, and it is useful to focus on critical issues and strong points of the site, for example a century-old tree or a beautiful view.

Preliminary Design

During a creative brainstorming, the garden is subdivided in different parts depending on its functions, then we inspect all ideas, scenarios and critical issues showed up. In the end illustrations and prospectic views take shape and we get the concept of the garden. The design is discussed with the customer, then we can go on with the final design..

Final Design

That’s the conclusive map of the garden, an overall view supplied with clear explanations designed for customers and professionals. It describes hardscape elements (squares, paths, swimming pools, …), systems, lighting, furniture, materials and throws a glance at volumes occupied by plants. As an integration we provide a costs analysis, that at this stage can still be modified depending upon choices and resources.

Detailed Design

Next step will be writing down the detailed plan, a set of technical boards full of sections and architectural details that professionals need to get the job done. This design comes together with an estimative metric computation and a plantation plan, which is a “mandatory” board for the gardeners, who find on it all the botanical recommendations about cultivars and their proper planting.

Contruction and Site Management

After the contractors has been selected, the most thrilling moment has come: the original idea gets real and the garden comes to life. The building work will be directed in first person to guarantee the maximum compliance to the plan and further advantages for our customers: speed, selection of specialized staff, unique representative in the site management.

Davide Cerruto

Landscape designer

A plants maniac and a communication enthusiast, Davide goes with ease from in field cultivations during the day to keyboards and workstation sessions overnight. Every year he arranges selective trials during which he observes the growth of new cultivars and chooses only the ones he likes in terms of endurance and reliability. He loves mass plantings, lawns, english conservatories, groundcovers and plants for shade.

WALTER

Walter Coccia

Landscape Designer

'Arquitecto de jardines' across two worlds, a South American who divides his time between Bergamo, BogotĂ  and Monza, where he teaches green design at Scuola Agraria del Parco. Fond of urban planning, Walter represents the expertise in the game, the man who summarises the most complex projects without losing sight of the goal. He loves curvy lines, handmade sketch and - as he uses to call them - the ``floods of flowers``.

VIDEO PREVIEW

Technical plans, by themselves, are too complex for the general public and we realized that always more frequently even renderings are not enough. So, we decided to produce for our customers full video previews of the gardens before a single rock is placed down on the construction site. In this way you’ll see, with your own eyes, the project come to life with all its main elements: pool, trees, hardscape – and so on – and you will understand at once if you like it or not. Simple.
